Geelong Street Art Trail

Geelong has a growing and vibrant street art collection. Some artworks are commissioned by property owners and others are commissioned by the City of Greater Geelong through the Arts & Culture department. Many of the works are part of The 5G-ID project.

The 5G-ID Project

The City of Greater Geelong and the State Government of Victoria, through its Laneways and Linkages program, funded the commissioning of a collaborative street art project for the streets around Little Malop Street including Downes Place and Dennys Place.

This project entitled 5G-ID was designed to bring the skills and experience of some of Geelong's internationally recognised, home-grown talent, back into the city's heart, to work alongside some talented up and coming artists.

Five Geelong artists were invited to explore the concept of (local) identity through their artworks by producing a painting, for one of a number of sites, of a person/face (real or imagined) or portrait/tribute to a person (living or deceased) of significance to the municipality.
