Community directory disclaimer

Information provided in the online directories on this website is intended to provide a guide to many City services as well as community groups, clubs and organisations in the City of Greater Geelong.

The directories include Government statutory regional other bodies and establishments providing a goods and services to the community.

However the information contained is not exhaustive. No warranty representation or undertaking is made about the content accuracy and completeness of the information provided. For a more comprehensive listing of other local public or private bodies check the local newspapers telephone directories or other websites.

Council accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss damage or injury which may arise from anything contained in this publication. No person is entitled to any redress against the Council on any account whatsoever and however arising in relation to any information provided.

 

The City's rights and responsibilities

We reserve the right to:

  • refuse reject and terminate any listing or website at any time for any reason and are under no obligation to provide reason
  • remove information which is political racist unlawful threatening abusive indecent pornographic or defamatory
  • modify or discontinue any service offered via www.geelongcity.vic.gov.au at any time for any reason
  • provide information contained in any directory in other formats i.e. publications and online newsletters
  • amend the Terms and Conditions at our discretion. We recommend you revise the Terms and Conditions regularly.

The listing of any group club organisation or establishment is not an endorsement by Council of such group club organisation or establishment.

Users of www.geelongcity.vic.gov.au should not rely on the information provided and must make their own enquiries inspections and assessments as to suitability and quality of services.

Registered users

All registered users must:

  • ensure the information provided is current and accurate for their organisation’s entry
  • be responsible for updating all information provided in their entry in any directory or website.

Registered users must not use www.geelongcity.vic.gov.au to:

  • display unsolicited fraudulent or deceptive information
  • post information which includes but is not limited to intimidating or harassing statements or such which may lead to civil or criminal action
  • post information or multimedia files which are pornographic obscene indecent or
  • encourage acts which constitute a criminal offence or civil liability
  • post information or material which may contain viruses or other malicious programs and cause harm to user’s access and the general operation of www.geelongcity.vic.gov.au

Email notifications

We will endeavor to ensure all registered users are notified of any modifications approved or declined registrations.

Processes are implemented to ensure all registered users are aware of the terms and conditions and their obligations for using www.geelongcity.vic.gov.au

You may also from time to time receive information from the City of Greater Geelong which is of interest to your group club or organisation.

Definitions

EcoBusinesses are defined as producers suppliers or retailers of products or services that are:

  • local and organic / chemical free food production
  • sustainable products used in home food production
  • involved in recycling reuse or repair
  • promote sustainable consumption or education
  • linked to or benefiting the community.

Further to be listed in the community directory the eco-service or product should be the primary focus of the business rather than an additional component.

 

Common Questions

You can check your eligibility for the community directory from the checklist below. We accept listings from:

  • community groups or not for profit organisations – Incorporated and Unincorporated    
  • charitable trusts/foundations    
  • schools or universities    
  • housing/tenancy organisations    
  • community service organisations (for example: Community Health Centres, DHS, Disability Providers, Government Departments)    
  • children's service providers    
  • church and religious organisations    
  • community facilities    
  • Aboriginal organisations    
  • clubs (for example: sporting, recreational, senior citizens)    
  • community legal service providers    
  • parliamentarians    
  • local government departments    
  • local artists, groups, art and culture organisations.             

All listings in the community directory must be based in or have a branch in Geelong or surrounding municipalities, or have regular meetings in Geelong or surrounding municipalities.

New listings are only permitted to be added by an authorised member of your organisation or group.

We verify and approve all entries before they are made available on the website.

The Community Directory does not generally include commercial business listings. Your entry may however be approved if you are an Arts and Culture business.
