Friday, 11th September 2026

Central Geelong and the Waterfront will be buzzing with family-friendly events, creative workshops, live entertainment and free activities these school holidays.

Children participating in the Expert Radio Lab

To help parents and caregivers make the most of the break, we’ve rounded up a range of free, low-cost and ticketed activities and experiences in our Spring School Holiday Fun Guide.

Children aged four to 12 can enjoy a packed program of outdoor activities, arts and crafts, cinema screenings, live performances and interactive experiences designed to suit different interests and budgets.

Highlights from the Spring School Holiday Fun Guide include:

Geelong Wonder Children’s Festival

From 14-24 September, the Geelong Wonder Children’s Festival will see central Geelong come alive with creativity and curiosity.

The program invites children and families to explore a world of imagination through captivating storytelling, spectacular performances, hands-on experiences and opportunities to play, create and connect.

Big Wonder Weekend

As part of the Geelong Wonder Children’s Festival, the Big Wonder Weekend 19-20 September will transform Little Malop Street and surrounding precincts into a free street festival.

Featuring roving performances, community karaoke, fun flavours and free activities, there will be something for the whole family to enjoy.

The Geelong City Market will be getting in on the fun, with the North Children’s Choir, roving entertainers and Scottish dancing part of the market line-up on Saturday 19 September.

Adding to the festivities, the City is partnering with artist and illustrator Elise Motalli to create a live community artwork, giving children and families the chance to share their favourite places, experiences and ideas for central Geelong.

Activities will also be held at the National Wool Museum, where children can enter free during the Big Wonder Weekend.

175th Anniversary Open Day of the Geelong Botanic Gardens

For a perfect family day out, pack a picnic and celebrate the 175th Anniversary Open Day at the Geelong Botanic Gardens on Saturday 3 October 2026.

Enjoy children’s activities, plant sales and fun for the whole family.

Get Crafty

Free creative workshops will be held at The Dome Library, Platform Arts and The Carousel throughout the school holidays.

There will be activities for children of all ages, including make your own boardgames, keyrings and collage craft.
