Geelong Bollards

Geelong’s most-photographed people don’t play football for Geelong but are as just as beloved, by locals and tourists alike.

The Geelong Bollards project, by artist Jan Mitchell is a vibrant expression of Geelong’s rich history and heritage. These wooden avatars are not just portrayals of personalities and pioneers who laid the foundation of the city that we know today, but also the local personalities and characters who made life in Geelong a charismatic kaleidoscope for the locals who lived and worked in the region.

There are more than 100 of these larger-than-life painted icons guiding visitors along the foreshore walking/cycling track from Rippleside Park, through Waterfront Geelong to Limeburners Point and the Botanic Gardens.
