City of Greater Geelong has received Black Spot funding from The Australian Government to deliver road safety upgrades.
Kilgour St & Garden St, Geelong - Blackspot Funding road safety upgrades
The Black Spot program aims to enhance road safety and reduce the risk of serious injuries and fatalities. This initiative focuses on improving high-risk locations where accidents have occurred or are likely to occur.
The project is funded by the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program and will include:
- Raised wombat crossings on all four (4) legs of roundabout
- Street lighting upgrades
- Line marking & Signage upgrades
- Drainage upgrades
The works will likely begin in the spring of 2026. This page will be updated once dates have been confirmed. The works will be delivered by our internal Construction Unit and will take approximately 11 weeks, weather permitting.

Traffic management and detour signage will be in place to assist access around the site.
Your rubbish collection will not be impacted. Please place your bin out as usual and if required staff will move your bin for collection. We’ll return your bin once it is emptied. So, please ensure your property number is on your bin to avoid confusion.
