Grant guidelines

To confirm the eligibility of your organisation and activity, please read the grant guidelines before applying.

Who can apply?

The grants are delivered through a co-design approach with the City, partnering with community groups and businesses to implement meaningful, local action. 

Applicants must be willing to work in partnership with us to develop their project scope and project plans. We may request to be involved in the project steering committee.

We welcome bold new ideas and proven project models alike—whether you’re piloting something innovative or scaling up an existing initiative. 

To apply for this grant you must be one of the following:

  • incorporated not-for-profit organisation
  • unincorporated group with an auspice
  • registered charitable organisation
  • school or learning institution – only if in partnership with at least one other school or not-for-profit organisation
  • individual operating as a sole trader (with an active ABN)
  • business.

What can you apply for?

Projects designed to respond to the City's Climate Change Response Plan 2021–30 by

  • increasing greening Greater Geelong, including tree planting and habitat restoration. 

  • building community awareness about how a changing climate affects us. 

  • boosting energy efficiency and local renewable energy generation. 

  • supporting the transition to a net zero emissions municipality by 2035. 

  • encouraging a shift to sustainable transport and cleaner fuels. 

  • helping store more carbon naturally through soils and vegetation. 

  • strengthening local networks and collaboration for long-term impact. 

Our focus this year is greening Greater Geelong through planting trees, creating biodiverse landscapes, and expanding green spaces. These efforts contribute to stronger, healthier neighbourhoods while building resilience to the impacts of a changing climate. 

How much can you apply for?

There is a total grant pool of $180,000 available.

Applicants may ask for up to $50,000

  • Answer the questions in the application form.
  • Don't forget to hit the submit button.

We recommend saving your progress every 10–15 minutes. If your computer is inactive for 20 minutes, your session will time out.
