Road reconstruction and widening

Project Details:

Location: Beach Road, Avalon - Volpini Court to Pousties Road

Dates: Late October 2026 to late December 2026

Contractor: City of Greater Geelong Construction Unit

Work Hours: Weekdays, 7:00am – 5:00pm (weather permitting)

Project Scope: Reconstruction and widening of road, including line marking and guideposts.

Why these works are needed

These works form part of Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving local infrastructure.

The road surface has deteriorated over time due to age, water ingress and increased traffic, including heavy vehicles. These works will provide a stronger, wider and more durable road that better supports current and future traffic needs.

Works are being timed to finish prior to the 2027 Avalon Airshow.

We are currently assessing potential renewal works for other sections of Beach Road and will notify the community separately if they proceed.

Traffic Impacts

Full Road Closure

• Airport precinct access via Princes Freeway/Beach Road interchange
  • Pousties Road Access via Avalon Road and Point Wilson Road

Businesses and residents directly affected will receive further notification two weeks prior to the commencement of works.
