Standing at the western border of Johnstone Park near the Gordon Technical College, the King Monument pays tribute to George R. King - a champion of Geelong’s cultural and educational growth. Between 1898 and 1934, King served the College with distinction, first as Secretary and later as Principal. To honour his legacy and his fondness for the local landscape, former students erected this striking granite boulder from Batesford’s Dog Rocks in 1959.
