T E Bostock Memorial - Gordon Gallery

Now the Gordon Gallery, the Bostock Memorial has ‘stylized Ionic Order columns and pilasters’; its surface decorations counterpoint the later severe upper floor. It forms a link between the Peace Memorial, The Gordon’s Lascelles Laboratory (Laird and Buchan, 1921) and The Gordon Textile School on Gordon Avenue.

Percy Everett's designs for the 1930s Wool School and the modernistic Textile College (1949) unify the ‘grouping’ of Gordon buildings, partly by adding a plain extra storey to the Bostock Memorial and Lascelles buildings.

Together with the Peace Memorial and The Gordon buildings, the Bostock Memorial is part of a sequence of design concepts attributable to Geelong's major architects of the 20th Century.

2 Fenwick St, Geelong.
