Geelong Court House and Public Offices

With its ‘two-storey height courtroom, colonnaded porch and two flanking pavilions,’ the Court House reflects the classical lines of the Town Hall and Post Office.

It represents its construction period faithfully. The Little Malop St facade also has a ‘tripartite composition’, mixing tradition with Modernism. Its ‘vertical window Strips’ are similar to The Gordon’s Wool and Textile School. The decorative metal work of the grilles is outstanding. The interior shows the ‘contemporary Moderne theme with plaster friezes, metal work and the era’s typical Queensland timber veneers to doors and panels’, It is ‘one of Everett's larger Courthouse designs and among his most successful’.
