Kindergarten Central Enrolment
Launching 2027
Central Registration and Enrolment Scheme (CRES) is a best practice model for local councils and other organisations to support families and carers to secure a kindergarten place for their child.
What does this mean for Geelong families?
The City of Greater Geelong is launching a Centralised Registration Platform in 2027 for 2028 registrations, to make the kindergarten process simpler for Geelong Families. This platform uses the Department of Educations Priority of Access, to allocate children in a fair, consistent and transparent way.
By creating a centralised platform, Geelong families can submit one application for all participating Kindergartens within the Geelong region, instead of contacting individual services.

How to apply
Registrations open at the end of Term 1 each year through the City’s Central Registration and Enrolment Scheme (CRES).
Simply complete one online registration for each child and nominate your preferred kindergarten options. The City will coordinate the registration and allocation process with participating sessional kindergarten providers.

Families will receive confirmation of their application.
We’ll work to match your child with one of your preferred kindergarten options.
Places are allocated using the Department of Education’s Priority of Access criteria, your nominated preferences and the places available at each kindergarten.
- First round of offers: From the start of Term 3
- Further offers: Continue after the first round as places are available
If your child doesn’t receive an offer in the first round, you don’t need to register again. Their registration will continue to be considered in following allocation rounds.
Once you receive an offer, you’ll be given a timeframe to accept or decline your child’s kindergarten place.
It’s important to respond by the due date so we know whether you would like to accept the place. If you don’t respond within this timeframe, we may consider the offer declined and offer the place to another family.
Once you accept an offer, your kindergarten service will contact you directly to complete your child’s enrolment and provide information about getting ready to start kindergarten.
