Do I need an inspection?

A permit must be obtained before commencing any works within our infrastructure, depending on the location, size, and nature of the work. The type of permit required will determine the number and type of inspections needed.

Depending on the type of permit you hold, one or more of the following inspections may be required:

Pre-approval inspection: Before a Vehicle Crossing Permit application in submitted, our inspector will meet with the property owner on-site (the contractor may attend but is not required) to discuss the proposed vehicle crossing.

Initial inspection: Once an Asset Protection Permit has been submitted, inspectors will assess the condition of the infrastructure prior to the commencement of works. The permit application automatically triggers the inspection, and no booking is required.

Pre-pour inspection:  Once the vehicle crossing has been boxed in accordance with the permit, any attached conditions, and our design specifications, we will carry out an inspection. We will then contact the contractor by phone to confirm whether the concrete pour can proceed.

Prior to backfill inspection: An inspection is required before any Legal Point of Discharge (LPoD) stormwater connection to Council drainage infrastructure is backfilled. An inspector will confirm if the connection is in the approved location and meets Council standards.

Final inspection: Once the works are complete, an inspector will conduct a final inspection to assess the condition of the infrastructure. If reinstatement works are required, you will need to obtain a Works within Road Reserve Permit or a Consent for Works within Road Reserve prior to completing the works.
