What permit do I need?

A permit must be obtained before commencing any works within our infrastructure, depending on the location, size, and nature of the work.

Depending on the location, nature, and scope of the works, including any works conditioned on a planning permit, you may require one or more of the following permits:

Asset Protection Permit
An Asset Protection Permit is required before beginning any demolition, construction, or other building works on a property. This permit ensures that public infrastructure—such as footpaths, roads, and drains—remains protected throughout the project. It helps us maintain city assets in their original condition prior to the commencement of works.

Vehicle Crossing Permit
A Vehicle Crossing Permit is required before constructing a new vehicle crossing or modifying an existing one. This permit ensures that the crossing is built in an approved location, complies with our standards and any permit conditions, and protects public infrastructure—such as footpaths, roads, and drains—throughout the project

Works within Road Reserve (WWRR) Permit
A Works within Road Reserve (WWRR) Permit is required for works less than 8.5 square metres undertaken in a council road reserve. If a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) is required, a Consent for Works within Road Reserve is required regardless of the size of the work area. This permit ensures that our road reserves are protected and reinstated to their original condition following the completion of works.

Consent for Works within Road Reserve
A Consent for Works within Road Reserve is required for works more than 8.5 square metres undertaken in a council road reserve or where a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) is required. This permit ensures that our road reserves are protected and reinstated to their original condition following the completion of works.

Any damage resulting from the works, or any existing damage that is worsened, must be repaired or reinstated by the permit holder.
