Developing your household emergency plan

Emergencies can happen at any time, don't wait for an emergency to happen - be prepared and have a plan.

There are simple and practical steps you can take to protect yourself, the people you love, and the things you value most.

Before

  • Talk through what to do with all family members and develop a plan together
  • This plan needs to include everyone in your household, including your pets
  • Identify a meeting point in advance that the family is aware of
  • Have an emergency kit already packed with some essentials including any required medication
  • Practice your plan
  • Have a contact person for you or your family to call to let them know of your plans
